Jyväskylä will present itself to future applicants at the Studia fair in Helsinki on Tuesday 26.11. and Wednesday 27.11.

Kuntien imago 2024 survey: Jyväskylä ranked second overall among Finnish cities with over 100,000 inhabitants

The City of Jyväskylä has achieved the second place in overall impression among cities with over 100,000 inhabitants in the 2024 Kuntien imago survey conducted by Taloustutkimus. The study evaluates the performance of municipalities as perceived by companies and business decision-makers. Jyväskylä's most notable improvements were in the categories of business-friendliness and cooperation between the city and companies. Additionally, the city made significant progress in promoting international expertise and labor immigration compared to the previous year. Overall, Jyväskylä's business image ranks as above average. In the study, Jyväskylä achieved a general score of 7.61, exceeding the national average of 7.44.

Christmas in Jyväskylä opens at Kompassi on Saturday 23 November - Christmas bingo starts already at 10 o'clock

The traditional Jyväskylä Christmas opening will take place in Jyväskylä's walking center, Kirkkopuisto and Toivola's Vanha Piha on Saturday 23 November 2024. This year, the program in the center starts at 10 a.m. and there are fun things to do all day long. At Kompassi, children can enjoy the free carousel and win prizes by participating in the Christmas bingo.

Christmas opening day starts with Christmas bingo, where children and why not adults too get to complete bingo card tasks around the city center.

A new bus stop has been completed at Laajavuorentie in Jyväskylä and is in use from 5.11.2024.

The bus stop is located on Laajavuorentie, near the Savela S-market, and is called Vehkakatu 1.

Addressing absenteeism is part of promoting pupils' well-being in Jyväskylä schools

At Jyväskylä comprehensive school schools, unresolved, unauthorised and repeated absences, delays and mid-day absences of pupils are addressed as early as possible with joint support measures. The class teacher absences with the pupil and guardian immediately if they have concerns about the pupil's schooling, learning or well-being. The aim is to strengthen interactive cooperation between home and school.

-School absenteeism can be prevented by supporting pupils' attachment to school, well-being and sense of community and inclusion.

Radiant, passionate, fresh, and energetic – when describing Lorenzo Passerini, who is starting as the chief conductor of Jyväskylä Sinfonia this autumn season, adjectives seem insufficient.
